An oldie (OK 1995) but a goodie. 'Mutiny onboard a United States Nuclear Ballistic Missle Submarine'.
Being in the Navy myself, I understand the Gene Hackman character. Old, salted, more concerned about reputation than doing the right thing and ensuring that everyone knows he is the boss.
This problem manifests itself into muntiny as the XO (Washington) and the Captain (Hackman) cannot concur on an order to fire Nuclear Missles. Protocol states that they must agree to fire or not fire at all.
After Hackman is locked in his stateroom, Denzel attempts to get the next message from command to ensure that the launch is authorized.
Both men present realistic roles, Denzel being of the new Navy where tradition and honor take precedence over saluting and how many medals you have. I have seen both sides of this fence during my service and it is a dilemma still today.
This movie is action packed, fast moving and features Rick Schroder. You can't go wrong there.
Crimson Tide surfaces with a 7.8.

Rick Schroeder! I saw him in the movie for a total of 3 seconds. I liked the movie, too. I like all submarine movies.
