Guest Review...War Horse

This movie drama goes far beyond simply being a story about an amazing horse named Joey who finds himself on the battlefields of World War I.  Steven Spielberg works his magical genius to bring the reality of the ugliness and heartbreak of war to life in graphic detail. Woven into this stark setting are the redemptive and honorable themes of courage, integrity, loyalty, and personal sacrifice. Performed by a credible and adequate cast, it is a "must-see" for adults and mature teens. However, in my opinion , it is too traumatic for most children 12 and under.  M.C.

Today's the day after Christmas, a great day to see War Horse. I liked it. Action was very good, and the ending was very satisfying. The characters were good, and they were mostly nice people. I learned that soldiers can show kindness toward animals even though they may be fighting other soldiers. Although War Horse is a good movie, it's not the best movie I've ever seen ( I like "Red" as my number one). D.L.

War Horse is an exceptional film made by great men and women about men of honor. Characters are overwhelmingly moral. For horse lovers, the language of horse to human interaction is clear. And, it's the unspoken language that anchors this moving account of World War I horsemanship with an emotional memory that will stick with you for a long time.

This fine story is guaranteed to add a few names to your beloved characters list. And, the war elements won't turn off your respect. You'll remember that the bravest people in history are those who don't let  pride get in the way...fathers, sons, mothers...enemies. And, it seems there are faithful animals that don't let anything get in the way. Nothing.

War Horse is an 8. For me, the only detraction is one incredible coincidence. Go see this wonderful film and enjoy a good cry.  T.B.S.
