For the Smith family, Saturday night at the Elkhart County 4-H fairgrounds will be one of their 2008 highlights. "It's a dream come true", said Nicole Smith, driver of the Pink "cruisin'" Limo. "My corner of Facebook will be changed like you wouldn't believe". "Imagine the ruckus in NASCAR circles if I go all the way".
Nicole's crew chief, "P.U.MasterNate" Smith took a month off from his other hobby, classical guitar, to fine tune the 950HP GM "interceptor" V8 engine for this special exhibition derby. MasterNate told Car and Driver interviewer Bustion Chambers that he "gave the V8 timing curve a "stacatto setup with the second inversion of an A sharp chord." "This is gonna wake up Chet Atkins", he said. Onlookers marveled at the harmony and syncopation MasterNate's setup yielded. "If the drop-forged tranny main shaft can take the torque, this machine is destined to carve out holes in the Saturday night competition", the crew chief exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Nicole's mom prayed for a tornado and a complete cancellation of the event.
