American Women (or the Closer You Get)
If you try to understand why these people act the way they do, it's a valuable lesson. If you like very subtle humor, there's a load of it in "American Women". This film left me with a long-lasting warm memory. It took a long time for the fun to happen, but in the mean time, these excellently cast citizens stamped the seal of realism onto this film.
I saw this movie a few years ago, and realized that it's the most realistic film I had seen in a long time. The characters are real...a little messed up, arrogant, manic, depressed, foolish, ignorant. Some characters are kind, cool, patient, and honest. It's a simple story. It's about a village full of adults, some acting their ages, and some acting like teenagers.
I was impressed with the Irish landscape, and I'm going with 8.0/10 for this example of realism.
