On one level, Angels and Demons is a primer on how to select a replacement Pope. You get the Cardinals together in a locked room to vote and send smoke signals. Wait... that's not exactly what is going on, because there's the "preselection" process. And, there's the Cardinal who "manages" the event from inside. He's sort of ineligible to be elected Pope. That would be a conflict of interest.
What if you wanted to be the Pope, you felt you deserved to be Pope, and you figured out a way. Let's keep it a secret so you can go enjoy this very worthwhile film. Better count on Tom Hanks to be there, because he's the only one who can unwittingly guide the Swiss Guard through an impossible maze. Hire an "all business" gal to fill in the blanks when Hanks comes up short. Hire a great actor like Ewan McGregor to add flavor to the story as the deceased Pope's alter ego. Get a good look at the very secure and secret Vatican archives.
"Angels and Demons" makes the grade. I didn't read the book, but doing so tainted me to the verge of disappointment when I went to see "Da Vinci Code". My advice would be to skip the book and go see this 8.0 movie. I liked it a lot. Gotta get Doc to go see this movie so he can enjoy the explosions.

Give me one of these short haired reviews every time. Frankly, I don't read the long ones. Thanks. I'm going to go see this movie soon.
Is there a real demon? Don't tell me there's a mental patient, because I hate psycho movies.
I saw this movie the first weekend it came out. All of us who were in the theater liked it. I kept wondering if the Catholics liked it. Could be a little egg on the face.
I think Tom Hanks is the current Gregory Peck.
I just watched this again, and it's great the second time around. Just like the first time.
