Movie Review... Knowing

Intrigue. Fakey cakey. Well, if you like the first half of this very loud movie, you're probably a somewhat curious science minded film lover. When you watch the dramatic gymnastics in the second half, you'll have to decide. Is it drama or science? You might imagine this director chose to cut and paste scenes from 6 or 8 other movies to make one scary adaptation. Where did he get that space ship scene? Been there. How about the decimation of New York City? Too familiar. Can solar flares really jump like that and lick the Earth? Stretchin'.

Who will answer the unanswered questions? Will it be in the director's cut on the DVD someday? Ok, so this film maker used some ideas from other people. Will Nick Cage carry the box office? What was with the "tree of life" spot? Will the memory of Knowing stick with you as a "must see"? Not for me. 5.0, but give it an A for computer generated images.

Nicholas Cage is always good. He works hard at his job. I think I'm gonna like this movie better than you did. Are you grouchy all the time?

Oh, it's just creative stuff. Cool down.

Unfortunately, my other reviewer is apparently being dragged down a gravel road by a horse and the only way to make the horse stop is to write a review that ain't worth the screen it's typed on.
Again, he is letting a few obstacles get in the way of his reviewing skills (and I use the word lightly).
Knowing is an awesome premise and idea for a story. Whoever came up with the idea of seeing the future in this format has a good imagination.
Although the first half of the movie is outstanding, the second half, I have to admit goes a bit overboard. My problem with the rest of this movie is that they try too much closure. They finish the story without letting your imagination go with it. All the loose ends are tied up and there is no sense of "wow" left over.
I enjoyed this movie, but I must agree (not for the same reasons) with my counterpart that knowing gets an unusually low score (Especially for Nick Cage).
Lets get to knowing with a 6.5
