The true human nature of remembering life altering events is bizarre at best.

While watching the various specials on last night, I felt much like I did 5 years ago - watching in awe as the events unfolded on the msnbc web site video feed. But other events have that type of impact as well. Do you remember where you where when the Challenger exploded? I do.

What makes this event different? Here's one aspect. I can tell Jered and Zach about a failing O-Ring that allowed hot gas to escape from the fuel tank creating an explosion that destroyed the shuttle and her crew.

I cannot explain to them why planes were crashing into buildings on purpose.

Big distinction.

Just a thought.
