Movie Review of Zathura
Premise: Two bored brothers find an ancient game in the basement of thier new (old) house called Zathura. It's a mechanical game that distributes a card after moving your piece around a track. The cards say things like "Meteor Shower Approaching - Take Cover" and the next thing you know, a real meteor shower is blasting the living room to bits. Each turn presents a harder challenge for the brothers to accomplish but in the end, finding out that they need to work on thier relationship and work together is the real key.
The scenery is all wonderful outer space with shooting stars, planets and of course asteroid belts.
The story flows very well as the kids are tentative to take thier next turn and see what disaster they must tackle next.
The challenges they face, the lessons they learn and the overall ability of the kids to move through the game and make grown up decisions makes this a really great movie.
I give this movie an 8.75 on the 10 scale and highly recommend it to anyone.
