American Women (or the Closer You Get)
Well, although this was a fun premise, and a good idea for a movie, it took too long for the fun to happen. The director moved quickly to the plot and then tried several attempts to prolong the actual event until the very end. And to not see the faces of the drunk Irish guys when the plot finally arrives was a big disappointment. From the Irish Pub, this movie gets a 5.5...
Wait a whiskey doodle minute... (Reviewer #2)
I saw this movie a few years ago, and what impressed me was that I thought this was the most realistic film I had seen in a long time. The characters are a little messed up. Just like us. Some are arrogant, manic, depressed, foolish, ignorant. Some characters are kind, cool, patient, and honest. It's a simple story. It's about a village full of adults, some being adult, and some acting like teenagers.
Here's the good part: If you try to understand why these people act the way they do, it's a valuable lesson. If you like very subtle humor, there's a load of it in "American Women". This film left me with a long-lasting warm memory. 5.5, but warm. (Scarpacci)
