Book Review... The Shack

Now, here's a novel.  The Shack is a wonderfully unique metaphor.  Mack Phillips is a regular guy with a nice little family.  Bam!  Trouble!  The worst tragedy imaginable.  How could a caring God allow this kind of catastrophe to happen?

The rest is large.  If you have a high regard for Christianity, you'll wonder if the metaphor is worthy.  If you enjoy invention or creativity, if you respect historical attachment, if you love the warmth of schmoozing in the kitchen with a figment of your creator, you're gonna love this novel.  You're gonna smile when you nod off at 2am, not being able to put the book down.  You're gonna think about buying a couple of copies to give to loved ones.

Think about unconditional love.  Unconditional forgiveness.  Absorb someone else's way of explaining a situation and a resolution.  You probably thought of a scenario like this, too.  It's worthy.  It's large. Three very capable people got together to make this novel almost perfect.  It's a 10.

If you can't stand the idea of Christianity, or of God the creator, you still may get a pound of conscience out of this purposefully crafted tale.
