I've bragged for years that this was the number one movie in my viewing career. Doc and I watched Boris Pasternak's (David Lean) masterpiece last night, and we made it through the whole l-o-n-g movie. I remembered the characters and the story line. The outdoor shots of the Ural Mountains and other breathtaking scenes (actually shot in Canada, Finland, and Spain) were still outstandingly memorable. Here's a characteristic I forgot, though: the interior shots are way too perfect. Give me some background noise and some of nature's imperfection. Develop Rod Steiger's character with some more lawyer and politician stuff. He's one dimensional in the movie. Everything else is a masterpiecemeal protein of perfection. I was right. It's a 10.
