Good Luck Phoenix !!

Hope the Chute deploys ...

In about 3 hours, the Phoenix Mars Lander is scheduled to land on Mars' polar ice cap to begin exploration. From the time the Vehicle begins thruster correction to get into Mars atmosphere until the time it sends the "Hello, I'm here" signal back to earth is approximately 22 minutes. As you know the radio delay from Earth to Mars (on a good day) is about 22 minutes. So they will know when it starts it's mission and by the time the next transmission reaches us, the entire process will have been accomplished.

Good Luck to the Phoenix Team.

UPDATE: (05/27/08) : PHOENIX LANDS SUCCESSFULLY !!
One note to add though: For the first time EVER, a spacecraft has captured another spacecraft landing on a planet other than Earth. CHECK IT OUT!
