Mission Accomplished

Democracy by Force.

Four years ago today, our hailing chief told America that we had accomplished our mission in Iraq. Saddam had been crushed and as soon as democracy was set into place and a government established, (he estimated the end of that year) our troops would be on their way back to their families here in the states.

Well, it hasn't happened in FOUR YEARS, and as a matter of fact, the situation is more dire than before. Worst than when it started. Yes, Saddam was a terrible man as was his regime and what they did to people and groups was unimaginable, but having 20 or 30 people per day die by insurgent attacks, and having our military personnel get killed inside the most protected (green zone) areas in Baghdad and by raodside bombs is also a travesty.

Here's what I think. After the Kuwait invasion (when Iraq invaded Kuwait) and W's dad could not find Saddam, I guess W made it a priority to get revenge for his dad and get that guy. Well, he did. At the expense of the American People, our pride, our soldiers and our flag. I don't think WMD was even an issue. As it still isn't today.

And probably the most disturbing thing that is happening right now is that W is about to VETO A BILL that will at least set a schedule to start removing our troops (which may spook Iraq into getting thier act together) , getting our troops some better equiment (which may cut down on the number of people killed each day) and getting some funding to Iraq (which may help get the Iraqi infrastructure a boost).

What does it say to the world when we as Amerians cannot even agree on what path to take in Iraq... What a joke. What does it say to our troops?...What a Joke.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED GEORGE.
